VALZEO M24 Progress Meeting

On December 4th, 2024, the VALZEO consortium gathered virtually to evaluate the progress achieved in the last 24 months of the project. Hosted by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and managed by Dr. Roberto Boada, the meeting provided a comprehensive review of ongoing tasks, outcomes, and future plans.

VALZEO, funded by Horizon Europe, focuses on transforming agro-industrial waste into zeolite-based composite materials for environmental remediation and biofuel production. This project embodies the principles of sustainability and the circular economy, leveraging innovative research and strong partnerships.

The meeting featured presentations by leading experts from various organizations:

Dr. Roberto Boada (UAB): Progress in raw material optimization and silicon extraction (WP1).

Dr. Rabdel Ruiz Salvador and Maria de la Menta (UPO): Development of functional materials for water treatment and catalysis (WP2).

Dr. Daniele Caterino (Univpm): Laboratory-scale validation of developed materials (WP3).

Dr. Raquel Montes (AERIS): Pilot-scale and real-environment testing (WP4).

Dr. Gustavo Perez and Maghraby Elseify (SITES): Dissemination, communication, and stakeholder engagement strategies (WP5).

The meeting concluded with a detailed discussion on project management (WP6), ensuring alignment with objectives, addressing risks, and planning for the next stages.
